openrunners

Quick start

Two paths: your coding agents' tests and builds, and your GitHub Actions CI.

Coding agents: Crabbox

Crabbox (github.com/openclaw/crabbox, MIT) leases a machine, syncs your working tree including uncommitted changes, runs your command, streams the output and returns its exit code. Agents learn it through a skill, so it works in Claude Code, Codex and other harnesses. It is built and maintained by the openclaw project; we just use it and recommend it.

  1. Install:
    brew install openclaw/tap/crabbox
    crabbox doctor
  2. Try it with no account, on Docker or Podman on your own machine:
crabbox run --provider local-container -- pnpm test
  3. Pick a cloud provider and compare options:
    crabbox providers recommend

Crabbox's getting started guide covers providers, warm reuse and agent skills.

Sengi as a Crabbox provider: coming soon. Until then, use any provider Crabbox supports today.

CI: switch runs-on to Sengi

Sengi runs GitHub Actions jobs on fresh Ubuntu 24.04 x64 machines. Your workflows, secrets and logs stay in GitHub. We run Sengi; check the benchmark before choosing it, and the same one-line switch works for most hosted runners, including Ubicloud.

  1. Connect your repository. Sign in at app.sengi.run, choose Set up GitHub connection and install the Sengi GitHub App. Choose Only select repositories to limit its access. No card is needed to start.
  2. Change one line per job and keep everything else:
    jobs:
      test:
        runs-on: sengi-basic-4-ubuntu-2404
        steps:
          - uses: actions/checkout@v5
          - run: npm ci
          - run: npm test
Labels are sengi-basic-2-ubuntu-2404, -4- and -8- for 2, 4 and 8 vCPU, or premium in place of basic for the faster tier. Write the label literally, one per job.
  3. Push and merge through your usual review. Branch rules and approvals still apply.

Prefer to let your coding agent do it? Give it the Sengi prompt: curl -s https://sengi.run/agent.md. It changes only runs-on lines and opens a pull request for you to review. To switch back, change the label back.

Sengi is in beta, and Sengi Basic's launch is pending. Free monthly credits cover Basic minutes. Full details at sengi.run.
